Ever notice how fear can hold us back from not only creating and sharing our best work, but also living our best lives?

I’ve dealt with this issue, and now I help others do the same. As a mentor and certified coach, I help award-winning filmmakers, professional authors, ghostwriters, songwriters, and other self-employed creatives to thrive with a fearless voice—both in their work and at home.

The reason I got into this work is that, a long time ago, it was me struggling to find my fearless voice.

It got so bad that, by 2007, I was divorced, in debt, stuck in a soul-sucking job—desperate to have a meaningful, fulfilling life, but not sure where to begin. I remember sitting down in my cubicle every day, feeling alone and out of place, certain of just one thing: I was born for something better.

Then one day, I’d finally had enough. I made a simple choice at the time—to find the courage to start saying NO to requests for my time and energy that weren’t serving my needs, consequences be damned. After all, how could my life possibly get any worse?

So, even though I was scared, I began the long path of pursuing my passion and becoming a professional songwriter, and I’m so glad I did.

I found my fearless voice along the way, and now, I’m living my dream life as a husband, father, and professional storyteller. I no longer dread Monday mornings. Or any other morning, for that matter. I get up excited for the day ahead, and go to bed full of gratitude for my family, my gifts, and my courage to stand up for myself.

My life isn’t perfect. I still struggle with fear, but I no longer let it define my choices. The more I’ve been in community with other creative professionals, the more I’ve learned the struggle never goes away. It’s always there, lurking in the shadows.

That’s why I do the work I do… because I don’t want anyone to give up on their dreams, just because they’re struggling to give voice to their truth… to their needs and boundaries… to their yes and their no. I want everyone to have a chance to make a living doing what they love—with a sustainable balance between work, play, health, and family—like I’m doing now.
