After winning numerous awards as a singer/songwriter, including two ASCAP Achievement Awards, Susan Ruth’s career was on the precipice of a big launch.
As happens too often in the music industry, the opportunity was squandered by factors outside of her control, and for a while, she contemplated giving up on her dream.
Instead, she moved from Seattle to Nashville to become a professional songwriter, where she’s written songs for artists like Reba McEntire and Lonestar, in addition to licensing her music for Film and TV. But, like so many creatives, Susan isn’t content to be one thing. Thousands of songs later, her passions expanded as she branched out into abstract painting, voice acting, improv, and sketch comedy at The Second City Hollywood. Not to mention her award-winning podcast, Hey Human.
In this interview, you’ll hear Susan share about her journey and the common thread that runs between all of her pursuits as a full-time independent creative.
