Music by Ethan
My music has been described as gritty, dynamic, and honest. The writing is focused on promoting the things in life that really matter–love, living, and acceptance.
Bellingham, WA based Ethan Freckleton continues the tradition of gritty, honest American folk-rock – melding a heavy influence of blues and country music with the louder and heavier guitar sounds of the grunge era that he grew up with, while embodying the pop ethos of “Don’t Bore Us, Get to the Chorus.”
Devoted to writing great songs, he has continually refined his approach while studying the craft of songwriting with hit writers – among them: Jeffrey Steele, Tom Hambridge, Hugh Prestwood, Angela Kaset and Don Henry. Their teachings left their mark, as Ethan emerged with his own brand of sincere, soul-infused rock n’ roll.
Finally (2016)
This EP is all about release, as hinted at by its opening track “Just Release.” Featuring four tracks from a more content Ethan Freckleton, there’s also a special tribute to his new-born daughter titled “Emeline.”
Also included is “Finally”, an entirely danceable, Leonard Cohen-esque collaboration with Australian writer/engineer Paris Kis.
Empty Palace (2014)
Written and recorded over a two-week span on the Big Island of Hawaii, this 6-song collection features some of Ethan’s more dynamic and complete efforts.
All six tracks feature Brent Magstadt and Sherri Thal of THE ELEMENTALZ, with whom Ethan enjoyed a magical week of cowriting and relaxation in a place of authentic vibe and magic.
Co-produced by Ethan Freckleton, Brent Magstadt, and Charles Brotman. Recorded and engineered at Lava Tracks Studio in Waimea. Mastered at RFI by Ed Brooks.

Official Music Videos
Earlier in the decade, I worked with Seattle-area filmmaker, Thomas A. Gilbert, on a series of three music videos over a period of three years.
“WENDY WAS A ROBOT” was our first collaboration, followed by the ambitious “UNLIMITED LOVE,” and finally “OLD BLUE.”
